چکیده

Connections between locusts and people date back millennia remain a major food security challenge today throughout the world. Locust biology is often linked to abiotic conditions like temperature and/or precipitation, fueling perception that aside from active control, humans are not key players in interaction have with their environment. However, several studies shown land management practices grazing heavily influences locust-human linkages. In this review we synthesize published research reports on connections locust outbreaks ranching. For this, conducted an extensive literature search using Google Scholar 19 species of grasshoppers currently considered be or non-model locusts. Species were sorted according feeding guilds: (1) forb- tree-feeding locusts; (2) mix-feeding (grasses, forbs, trees); (3) grass-feeding We pest status, ecology, relationship grazing. then discuss overall data draw general patterns how control affect livestock through various mechanisms (competition, nutritional preferences, pesticide use, nutrient cycling). attention “telecoupling” process which ecological feedbacks populations, turn affects distant regions due migratory capacity Finally, present new perspectives for sustainable integrate understanding management.

Effects of Temperature on Behavior of Trimerotropis Pallidipennis (orthoptera, Acrididae)

We observed activity and behavior of Trimerotropis pallidipennis in the field and constructed time-activity budgets during June–July 2003. Grasshoppers began to walk once site temperatures (shaded air temperature 1 cm above soil surface) reached 18.6uC, foraging began once temperatures reached 24.2–31.7uC, and courtship began once temperatures reached 30.3–36.4uC. Mating and oviposition occurre...

PLANTÐINSECT INTERACTIONS Host Preferences and Habitat Associations of Some Florida Grasshoppers (Orthoptera: Acrididae)

Host-plant preferences were assessed by Þeldmeasurement of grasshopper abundance in relation to measurements of ßoral community and by laboratory host-plant preferences. Correlations between grasshoppers and plants (biomass and percentage cover) were based on data gathered at 29 study sites in Þve distinct Florida habitats (including disturbed, freshwater marsh, high pine, oak hammock, and swam...
